My aim
“Down-to earth therapy. For people ready to look a little deeper”

Specialisms
Trauma informed
Trauma-informed practice is at the core of my work as a therapist. I have extensive experience delivering trauma-informed therapy within sexual violence services in Derbyshire, supporting individuals who have experienced both recent and historic trauma. Through this, I have developed an understanding of PTSD, complex trauma, and the lasting impact trauma can have on the mind, body, and sense of self.
Loss and Grief
Grief is often associated with bereavement, but loss can take many forms — the ending of relationships, changes in identity, loss of expectation, health, hopes, or parts of ourselves hidden in order to cope. Sometimes we may not immediately recognise that we are grieving a loss at all.
Grief can be complex and be difficult to understand, therapy can explore this, in an aim to make sense of these experiences, allowing loss to be acknowledged with care, reflection, and understanding.
Neurodiversity
I have a particular interest in working with neurodiversity, including ADHD and Autism. I aim to offer a space that feels accepting, flexible, and attuned to your individual way of experiencing the world. I understand that neurodivergent individuals can often feel misunderstood or overwhelmed, particularly within relationships, work, or traditional therapeutic settings. My approach is collaborative and adaptable.
Life Transitions and Identity
I have a love of working with identity and the different aspects of self that shape how we experience the world. Our aspects can at times feel conflicting or unclear, particularly in the context of past experiences or life transitions. I incorporate creative and imaginative ways of working to support exploration with curiosity. This process can foster greater integration, self-understanding, and a more cohesive sense of self.

Client Feedback
"I’d always convinced myself that counselling wasn’t for me. I didn’t think it would help, and I had no interest in opening up. But after six sessions with Sophie, my perspective changed completely. She helped me climb out of a dark place and begin seeing both my life and myself through a healthier, clearer lens. Sophie’s approach was consistently professional, non‑judgemental and warm — she created a space where I felt safe and understood. Because of her support, I’m now able to look ahead with confidence rather than being stuck in the past. I’m genuinely grateful for the difference she made"

"I didn’t really know what to expect from therapy as it was the first time I’ve done anything of the sort. Having gone through the process, I can honestly say it’s made me understand things about myself I never would have without it, and has also helped me understand and process my own personal grief. I would definitely recommend Sophie to anybody seeking therapy"

"Sophie has been a breath of fresh air. I was very apprehensive of my therapy, for personal reasons, but Sophie has made me feel very comfortable. Sophie is welcoming and just what you need when you want to speak to someone impartial about anything you may need therapy for. Thank you for your continued support"

“When I started therapy, I knew I had to open up and be completely honest and transparent to get the most out of the sessions. That was hard, but Sophie made me feel at ease. I didn’t feel judged; instead, I felt her warmth as a person. She never pushed me, and I felt comfortable enough to lay everything bare.
I would leave the sessions feeling relieved. Sometimes, when you’ve been through hell, simply being able to say it out loud in a safe space with someone you can trust brings such a sense of relief and, to be honest, empowerment.
Sophie offers that to her clients. She is genuine, and that’s why she is so good at what she does.”
